Zimbabwe Passport fees up by over 100 percent

Zimbabwe has increased the price of passport applications by over 100 percent, with effect from Tuesday, February 18.

An ordinary passport now costs ZWL$150 up from ZWL$53, while an emergency passport, is now pegged at ZWL$600 from ZWL250.

Locals with free funds can now pay USD$318 for an express passport.

Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services minister, Monica Mutsvangwa made the announcement at the weekly post cabinet briefing in Harare.

Last week, the country’s Registrar General, Clemence Masango revealed that his office was still processing passport applications made 17 months ago.

Masango said the price for an ordinary passport was now equivalent to

US$3 and did not meet their production costs.

Finance and Economic Development Minister, Professor Mthuli Ncube is now expected to come up with the relevant Statutory Instrument.
