Zimbabwe records 8th Covid-19 death

Zimbabwe has  recorded its eighth Covid-19 death after a 21-year-old woman in the capital, Harare, succumbed on Saturday.

“We regret to report a facility death of a female aged 21 from Harare Province who tested positive today with no history of travel and had co-morbidities,” the Health Ministry said in a statement.

Seventy-three new coronavirus cases, the highest daily total since the country’s first case in March, were also recorded.

Eight of these cases are local transmissions.

“Seventy three cases tested positive for Covid-19. These include returnees from South Africa (55),Botswana (3), Mozambique (3), USA (2), Australia (1), Zambia (1), and 8 local transmissions who are isolated.”

This takes the country’s total tally to 698 cases with 181 recoveries.
