ZIMBABWE will be hoping to stand their ground against Sri Lanka on day three of their first test match at Harare Sports Club.

After the Chevrons posted a total of 358 all-out in their first innings on day two, on Monday, Sri Lanka responded with 42 for the loss of one wicket by close of day.

The visitors were set to resume day three trailing by 316 runs, with captain Dimuth Karunaratne and Kusal Mendis on the crease.

The series, which has seen Zimbabwe having three test debutants, still looks balanced, unless Zimbabwe crumbles in their second innings.

On Monday, it was Donald Tiripano, with his unbeaten 44, who pushed Zimbabweā€™s total to beyond 350 while Craig Ervine had done well, recording 85.
