Zimbabwe’s Minister of Finance and Economic Development, Professor Mthuli Ncube says the US$10 million payment to South African electricity company Eskom will be made by day end today. This is part of the country’s electricity import debt settlement.

Professor Ncube was presenting oral evidence to the Parliamentary Portfolio Committee on Budget and Finance on issues surrounding the recently published Statutory Instrument 142 of 2019.

Meanwhile, Secretary for Finance, George Guvamatanga, has cleared the air on why Energy and Power Development Minister Fortune Chasi said the payment had already been made last week, yet Eskom issued a statement denying this.
