Zimbabwe will open its borders to private passenger vehicles and pedestrian traffic on December 1.
Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Minister, Monica Mutsvangwa announced the imminent opening of borders during a post Cabinet media briefing in Harare on Tuesday afternoon.
“Cabinet wishes to inform the public that border operating hours are being fixed between 0600 and 1800 hours until further assessment of the situation,” she said.
Minister Mutsvangwa said operating hours may be adjusted depending on the volume of traffic.
Beitbridge, Plumtree, Victoria Falls, Chirundu, Nyamapanda and Forbes border posts will be the first to open.
Borders closed in March due to the Covid-19 pandemic, with only cargo being allowed passage.
