Zimbabwe’s long serving Catholic priest dies.

Zimbabwe’s long serving Roman Catholic church priest, Father Emmanuel Ribeiro has died.

He was 86.

Father Ribeiro died this morning at St Annes Hospital where he had been admitted last week.

Father Patrick Ngwenya confirmed the death to ZTN this morning, adding that more details will be shared in due course.

“We have lost Father Ribeiro. He died this morning at St Annes”.

Once a prison Chaplain for Harare Central Prison, Father Ribeiro was ordained at Chishawasha Mission in 1964 and celebrated 50 years of serving as a Catholic Priest in 2014.

He was a composer and novelist who composed over 17 Roman Catholic Church songs.
