Zimbabwe’s Month on Month Inflation Rate Eases

Zimbabwe’s month on month inflation rate eased to 2.26 percent for the month of March 2021.

According to data released by the Zimbabwe National Statistics Agency (ZimStat) on Thursday, the rate shed 1.19 percentage points from the February 2021 rate of 3.45 percent.

The annual percentage change for the month of March 2021 as measured by the Consumer Price Index (CPI) stood at 240.55 percent.

The CPI for the month ending March 2021 stood at 2, 759.83 compared to 2, 698.89 in February 2021 and 810.40 in March 2020

Zimpapers Television Network (ZTN) Business Correspondent Andy Hodges, said, “It shows that, economic policies are working,”

“Great news for consumers. It means that prices may be going up but technically they are not going up as much as you would anticipate,” he added.

According to the data from ZimStat the total Consumption Poverty Line (TCPL) for an individual stood at $5 312 in March 2021.
