Zim’s civil servants to get cushioning allowance

Finance and Economic Development Minister Professor Mthuli Ncube says civil servants will soon receive another cushioning allowance to protect them against the rising cost of living.

Speaking in Zimbabwe’s capital Harare, Minister Ncube said details of the salary increase will be made available next week.

The price hikes in the past three months have eroded the purchasing power of workers’ disposable incomes.

In April government awarded its workers a salary hike which saw the lowest paid worker getting ZWL$600.00.

Ordinary Zimbabweans are feeling the heat as prices continue to increase, compared to salaries which have largely remained stagnant over the past year.
