Zim’s mercenaries beat Lions

MERCENARIES of Mutare won their first game at the Basketball Africa League in South Africa on Tuesday.
They dismissed Lions of Namibia 64-55 and Tatenda Paul Maturure led with 17 points and 12 rebounds.
It was a good start for the Zimbabwean team at a tournament where six teams play in a round-robin and the top two progress to a second round of qualifying.
Three games were scheduled to be played on the opening day.
Ferroviario Maputo took on the Dolphins in the second game at 3:30pm, while Pacers of Zambia were set to take on Jozi Nugget in the last match of the day.
