Zim’s Snake ‘prophet’ arrested in Marondera

A 28 year old self styled prophet from Chikanga, Mutare has been arrest.

Madzibaba Maxwell Maguta was arrested on Saturday and police recovered a Rinkal Cobra in his travelling bag.

Mashonaland East provincial Police spokesperson inspector Tendai Mwanza confirmed the arrest and said the reptile has since been handed over to Zimparks for further management.

” I can confirm the arrest of a 28 year old Maxwell Muguta of Chikanga, for illegal possession of a rinkal cobra and the reptile has since been handed over to Zimparks officials for further management”.

Police Sources said upon his arrest, Maxwell Muguta revealed that he had bought the snake for US 70 from “Magorimbo” a traditional healer from Seke intending to use it for ritual purposes.

He is currently in custody at CID Marondera assisting Detectives with investigations and will appear in court soon.
