BANGLADESH Under 19’s ICC World Cup victory in South Africa could be an indication Zimbabwe faced the very best in the group stages.

Zimbabwe Under 19, who were in the same group with Bangladesh, finished 11th at that tournament, after a nine wicket defeat to Bangladesh in the group stages.

That Zimbabwe also lost to another semi-finalist Pakistan in the group stages, is another indication that Prosper Utseya’s boys were unfortunate to be part of group C.

After qualifying from the group stages, Bangladesh went on to brush aside South Africa and New Zealand on their way to the final against powerhouse India.

In the process they won the ICC World for the first time in their history, stopping India’s dominance in the process.

Bangladesh however needed Duckworth-Lewis (DLS) method to win. India were bowled out for 177 in 47.2 overs after Bangladesh skipper Akbar Ali won the toss and elected to field.

Going into that final, India were unbeaten after they won all five matches.
