Public examinations in Zimbabwe, scheduled for this Friday will continue despite the day having been declared an official public holiday to allow people to attend anti-sanctions programmes.
Advanced level candidates are scheduled to write Geography, while Ordinary level candidates are set to write Additional mathematics and Shona Paper 2.
Primary and Secondary Education Minister, Professor Paul Mavhima said all candidates and teachers are expected to report to their stations.
“When Government declared that Friday October 25 will be a national holiday to mark Sadc Solidarity Day against illegal Western sanctions against Zimbabwe, it was aware that O and A level candidates were writing exams,” said Minister Mavhima.
“In this regard, the exams will go on as scheduled. All school heads and principals as well as invigilators must ensure that all candidates report to their respective examination centres,” he added.
Minister Mavhima also dismissed messages circulating on social media that exams scheduled for that day had been postponed.
