Campion Marowa the man alleged to have shot and killed Joyce Kuzhumbwa appeared in court today facing charges of murder, theft and unlawful discharge of a firearm.

The court heard that on Monday 13 September Marowa boarded a Zupco bus armed with a revolver.

The prosecutor told the court that earlier that day the accused person had been caught by a colleague Nqobile Nsingo allegedly stealing fuel at the Zupco depot.

Nsingo then phoned his employer Alex Kautsiro who instructed that Marowa be apprehended. But Marowa threatened Nsingo with a with his revolver and escaped from the scene towards the Cbd.

Nsingo and another colleague Simbarashe Bhaureni followed him.

When Marowa realised that he was being tracked he allegedly pulled the revolver and fired a shot scarring the two.
Marowa then proceeded to board the zupco bus where he allegedly committed the murder.

After committing the alleged offense, he hid the revolver at his workplace in belvedere without notifying the guard who was on duty.

He later advised his supervisor via text message on Tuesday around 3:45 am that he had hid the revolver.

He was arrested on Tuesday in Dzivarasekwa.

Harare magistrate Denis Mangosi remanded Marowa in custody to 30 September and advised him to apply for bail at the high court. The accused is expected to return to court on 27 September for confirmation of statement.
